Q: Do I need everything on the list?  A: Yes.  If you don't have, MAKE YOUR NEEDS KNOW.  Ask others, borrow, rent, or buy.

Q: Can I bring my medicine? A: ALL medical needs or medicine MUST BE APPROVED my SUGE' Director.  Those who need asthma medicine can bring ie: inhalers.  Contact lenses AND glasses and contact lense cleaner ARE permitted but NO mirror.

Q: On the list it says bring a toothbrush but does not say to bring toothpaste.  Do I bring toothpaste?
A: If the 'List' says no toothpaste, it means not to bring. Generally, we treat and view the 'SUGE List' like the Word of God.  If it says bring, then bring.  If it doesn't list an item, then you do not bring UNLESS PERMITTED BY SUGE' Director.

Q: I don't have any boots. What should I do?  A: Refer to the list again.  It says to bring THREE types of foot wear to fulfull the requirements of the three footwears requested.  If you want to use your 'ballet shoes' for hiking or your "sunday shoes' for hiking because you do not have any 'boots' than that is what you will have to do.  THREE TYPES.  Refer to list.

Q: I have prescribed medicine from my doctor, can I bring?  A: MUST BE APPROVED by SUGE' Director.

Q: Does my watch have to be waterproof?  A: Yes.  If not, and it breaks or malfunctions or fogs up than you will have to be responsible with the consequences of your decision. Often in the Philippines, you can buy watches in the streets for P50 that <may> last 5-days, the length of the SUGE'.  You can always borrow from someone else.

Q: I read that you rent Back packs and sleeping bags. Can I rent from you?  A: Yes, but we only have about 17 backpacks and 10 sleeping bags.  The sleeping bags are thin, and cheap quality.  They are valued at about P500 or ($10) each.  They work fine if it is dry but once they get wet, they are heavy and worthless. They are made of simple nylon fabric with 1/4 inch foam inside.  Once again, you can always borrow from others you know on the YWAM base or elsewhere.

The Backpacks are Original US Military surplus quality and are nearly impossible to destroy! They rent at P100 each for the week. Sleeping Bags are P50 for rent. Payment must be made BEFORE receiving pack NOT at end of training.  They will be washed by us in the SUGE' Dept. in Manila NOT by you.  Sleeping bags are NOT provided for SUGE' in Davao or Cebu because of 'shipping'costs of bringing them. Pictures of both the sleeping bags and backpacks are available via email.

Q: Why does SUGE' cost so much?  A: That question will be answered at the end of the training.

Q: What does SUGE' mean anyhow?  A: It is a Japanese word for 'Wonderful'.  You will hear the word shouted at athletic events in Japan when someone makes a goal or score.  Like the America version of 'Hurray!' or an exclamation of praise when someone does a really great thing.  Similar to the Filipino word, 'Galing Galing!' SUGE'! is similar to a karate 'shout' or 'shout' used in self-defense training.

Q: I'm a girl.  Can I bring my napkins for my period?  A: Bring as many as you want but NO Mydol or medicine.

Q: Is it true to only bring TWO PANTIES or TWO UNDERWEAR? Even for girls?  For the entire five days?  A: YES.  It is true.  Again, read the list.  What does the list say?  Follow the list.

Q: Where will we sleep?  A: We'll let you know. You'll find out.

Q: I don't have a sleeping bag.  Can I use something else like a malong? A: You can use whatever you want for your sleeping bag but you will have to be responsible for your decision if the weather is too hot or too cold or wet at night?  But you will need to have 'something' you consider to be your sleeping bag.

Q: Are foam pads or 1/8" or 1/4" mattresses allowed? A: Generally no.

Q: What time will be be home on Day 5 (last day) and when do we start on Day 1 (first day)?
A: We cannot tell you exactly, but you will be home before 10pm on last day. You might plan ahead for 'late night' snack/meal in case you are still hungry when you get home. Especially YWAMers coming back to their Training Centers. We normally officially begin at 4pm sharp on the 1st Day (normally a Monday).

For those SUGE's in Subic Bay, transportation leaves at 5am sharp from our YWAM Training Center in Francisville Subdiv in Antipolo (near Masinag).  For those that want to travel alone and meet us in Olongapo, will receive a P400 discount to pay for your own transport (ie: P3,100 instead of P3,500).  We advise you to come early and stay overnight with us on the Sunday (night before) rather than risking being late after we depart at 5am.  Pleae communicate with us your plan.

Both Cebu and Davao SUGE's start at 4pm sharp at the YWAM Training Center Location in Talisay, Cebu and Buhangin, Davao.

Q: What will we eat?  Will we eat rice? A: We'll let you know.  You'll find out.

Q: Will we drink filtered water? A: We'll let you know. You'll find out.

Q: Can I bring my wife/husband? A: Yes but you won't be sleeping together for the entire week. You will be treated as if you are both 'single' again.

Q: Can I bring a small tent? or hammock? A: No.  It's not on the list.

Q: How much does it cost? A: Three locations: Cebu SUGE' is P2,800 ($56), Davao SUGE' is P2,800 ($56) & Subic SUGE' is P3,500 ($70).

Q: I am a Youth With A Mission (YWAM) Discipleship Training School Staff.  Will I have extra responsibility during SUGE'?  A: At the starting time of SUGE', traditionally at 4pm on starting day, all YWAM Staff, School Staff and students or other participants will be on equal level.  Staff and Students and all participants will be on equal terms and will be treated as such by SUGE' Staff and SUGE' Director.  The SUGE' Director and SUGE' Staff will be your Leaders for the duration of the 5 days of training.

Q: I am exercising once a week.  Is that enough?  A: You should be doing some sort of walking, hiking, or running numerous times a week.  You need to consider being able to carry YOUR Backpack with all the items on the list plus extra for a few hours at a time without excessive tiredness.  Many SUGE' participants ready themselves by wallking fast with their backpack (up and down hills) with between 15-20 Kilos (30lbs) of weight without much problem for up to 2 hours straight.

All SUGE' Staff are required to pass the SUGE' Qualification Run of 2KM in less than 16 minutes (Cebu & Davao Course) and 28 minutes (Antipolo Course). Perhaps as a SUGE' participant you
