December 2005

This is a view of YWAM Palawan Island.  I went there to teach for five days in February.  I also got to baptize some of the students (below) while I was there.

One of some of the Discipleship Training School (DTS) students I baptized while I was in Palawan Island in Feb '06.

JANUARY 2006:

In February, about ten of us went to the nearby train station to preach during Valentines Day.  Thousands of people take this entrance in the morning as they cross the city of Metro-Manila (12-16 million population).

I went to Guam last March and ran my first 26 mile Marathon.  It was a great experience!  I hit 'The Wall' at mile 19 and recovered by mile 21 and then slowly came across the finish line at: 4:55 minutes. I finished 42nd Place out of about 90 runners. http://www.guamrunnersclub.com.  Since then, I've ran a half-Marathon in Baguio City at 2:05 minutes. I have another one scheduled for April 30th in Laguna (near Manila).

I was really suffering in this photo right after crossing the finish line.  I could hardly stand and I could hardly sit.  Took me a few days to really recover and be able to walk normal again. I learned a lot and expect to be ready for the Manila Marathon in June 25th.

All the finishers received a t-shirt, medal and Certificate.  42KM on my 42nd Birthday!

Evangeline (with glasses) finished her 3rd year at Jesus Flock Academy.  She received 3rd honors which was amazing since she had fallen so badly behind when we took our trip to the USA for four months.  But she caught up doing massive homework and ended up doing great anyhow.  She returns to school in  June 2006 for her 4th year.

Another graduation photo (3rd year) with some of Evangeline's classmates.

APRIL 2006

About six times a year I teach in the Discipleship Training Schools (DTS) in either our Training Center in Manila or in Cebu City, Baguio City or Palawan Island. I've been invited to come to LAOS to teach in September 2006. I'm still thinking about it...

MAY 2006

12 of us went to the New Balance Power Run last May 29th for evangelism.  While I ran the 25K (16mile) race, Rene Langelaar and other YWAMers held Bible signs when all the runners came by. Over 4,000 runners seen the signs.

I got 129th Place out of 467 runners in the 25K race.  I finished in 2:16:54 which was a 8:49 min/km pace.

This was Rene at one of the intersections.  Our signs were very obvious.  There was no other type of witness at the event that was so bold and obvious!

The other side of this 'TRUST JESUS' sign says, 'FEAR GOD'.  'The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom' Proverbs.

JULY 2006:

Five of us traveled to Bantayan Island (Cebu) from July 8th-22nd and preached everyday in front of schools, corners and downtown areas.  On one occasion, we preached on three islands in one day.  I'm sure we preached to over 5,000 people during the two week period.

The Team: Rene, Fernan and Dulce Rona, Maricel Encina and myself.

We preached to 200-400 high school kids every lunch period for five days.

We also preached and witnessed to high school and elementary kids on the way home from school each day for the two weeks.  Nearly every kid would see us as they went home from school.  They had to pass by our corner.

This is Fernan helping me tell Bible stories to the kids in front of the house we were staying in.  They would simply stop by our house on their way home EXPECTING to hear another story!

Here we invented a 'fake funeral' to illustrate that everyone will die one day and go to either hell or heaven. Are you prepared?  Are you getting ready? Surrender to Jesus today!

This was a favorite corner we preached on in front of the high school and in front of the police station for three days.

See, the area we were in was a village.  There were hardly any people.  The only audience we could find was in front of the high schools or elementary schools.  Such a HUGE portion of the population of the Philippines are youth.

Rene would often hold a crowd by using his map of the world and talking about where he was from.  Most would think he was from the USA but he was actually from Holland.

AUGUST 2006:

This group of 14 Discipleship Training School Students from Antipolo joined me for 14 hours of lectures and four hours of evangelism in front of the ICCT School in Cainta last August 30th and Sept 1st.

We experienced 'no small stir' preaching at ICCT school last September 1st.  The students were so 'stirred up' the administrators had difficulty maintaining control of them when then got into the classroom.  They called the police and the admin and police wanted us to consider moving down the street more but we declined, maintained our position, and continued preaching for another 30 minutes. We fielded over 15 questions from the students in the crowd.  IT's a great place to preach just a few minutes from our house.

I 'think' the guy standing beside the policeman 'may' be the President of the school requesting us to move down the street. We did not.  We did not have to.  It was a public street and our noise level was not disturbing classes.  It's only that the students were so 'un-used' to 'this type' of activity just outside their school we were 'the talk' of the day. Amen!  This is actually a  complement that we are more 'exciting' than the 'classes'!

Taking a break from preaching to interact with the police and the 'I think' the President of the school or at the very minimum, one of the head administrators of the school.

February thru April 2007

Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in Manila,

Philippines last February 16th.  The guy on his back is part of a

drama I am illustrating.

More preaching at PUP on February 17th. This Campus has

50,000 students! We had a hard time gaining large crowd because

the competition we had with a huge political rally on the other side of the campus.

I was just ready to leave and ran into this very attentive group

of Tourism Majors. A few of them were believers. They were very

interested and we witnessed for over 20-30 minutes answering their

many questions about the Bible.

This is actually the same University that my wife, Liberty, graduated

from in 1987 when there were only 25,000 students - now there are

50,000 students. It's really a preacher's paradise 'cause there are

so many students everywhere.

Preached in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan Island, Philippines last March 14th, 2007. Lots of kids!

Preached in Cubao, Quezon City with over 20+ YWAMers on March 30th.  We hit nearly every corner and "dark alley" in the area!

Finally!  After 7 months in the making, I finally finished building our new Pinoy version Hummer. It has Mitsubishi Engine, Toyota Steering, Nissan underchassis.  It is fully air-conditioned and has 4 X 4 drive.  More photos below.  I have two VIDEOS ON-LINE as well at:

1.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmInPM1_UIc    The Completed HUMMER AFTER construction.

2.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPEfIPX2WFw     The HUMMER during construction (the making).

Hummer interior.  Microphone for preaching while driving or while in traffic! The dashboard is actually from an ISUZU ELF.

I plan to use this vehicle for our major outreach in 2008.  This is my everyday car.

Evangelism last April 5th to nearly 1 million people over a 8 hour period with Derek Johns and his team.

More photos from April 5th with Derek Johns' team preaching to hundreds of thousands - maybe a million people in Antipolo City proper.

Preaching at Recto in downtown Manila last June 1st, 2007.

Seven of these couples were married at our Training Center last June 2nd, 2007. Six of them had been living together and wanted to legalize their marriage.  One of the couples was renewing their 25th wedding vows.  The wedding was a result of our evangelism and discipleship outreach to a community near our Training Center led by four of our staff.

August 2007

These photos were taken while preaching at the University of Missouri last August 27th to 29th, 2007.  We had great crowds everyday.  We have three videos and a student paper article of our preaching during these days.  You can see them at:

This heckler in the black shirt with white cap and big Bible in had was a constant irritation.  I actually called the police on him on Wednesday because he was starting to get "physical" with me and could not maintain his distance. He loved sin and continued to defend his sinful lifestyle all during the week.

The guy in the background with the fishing cap, colorful shirt with blue pants, long hair and beard was named Ryan. He was one of our hecklers in 2005 when I preached here before! He is still here!  He says this is his graduating year.  I was actually glad to see him.  He came over to the house one night to join us for BBQ yet gave us a hard time during the day BUT I watched him once lift up a guy and carried him to the back row cause the guy was getting to emotional with us.  It's like he is our chief heckler but a type of 'body-guard' and 'friend' as well. It's like he hates to love us and we hate to love him too.  It's strange and hard to describe.

PRAY FOR: Jhong (left), Kay (middle) and Macky (right).  I sat across from them in the jeepney today and witnessed to them about Jesus as I was traveling across Metro-Manila.  Their lips were full of rings and they were really decked out with flowers in their hair (the guys) and the girl could hardly look at me because of her hair that covered her face.  The guys (Jhong and Macky) did not admit they were homos but they obviously have some "confusion" about their true identity.  This is a MAJOR PROBLEM in the Philippines- as in most nations.  I asked them if it is OK if I take their photo and put it on my website so that ALL MY FRIENDS AROUND THE WORLD can pray for them that "God would change their life."  They said, "yes" and shook my hand as they stepped off the vehicle.
